More About Skydive Baton Rouge

Perhaps you've thought about jumping out of a plane, either with a friend or simply with skydiving instructors and you want to find out more. Parachuting describes the process of skydiving out of an airplane and coasting slightly to the earth. While it may feel like flying, skydiving is a bit different. The level of security provided by having a parachute is the main difference. Your chute slows your descent, not only making your freefall safer, but also providing you with a beautiful canopy tour thousands of feet in the air!

They call the first jump a "tandem skydive", due to the presence of a skydive instructor. Your instructor will be harnessed to you during the entire adventure. You'll leap from a plane with him as well as freefalling and "flying" before your landing.

So exactly how high will you be whenever you jump?

When it comes to skydiving, there's a an altitude range that's necessary to climb to. Generally this range is between 10,000 and 14,000 feet. That's between 2.5 and 3 miles straight off the ground! Limitations are in place for jumping as the higher you go the less breathable oxygen you have.

You'll be trained on how each of your parachutes are controlled before you leave the ground.

Your second parachute is just simply a safeguard. However, should the initial chute malfunction your Automatic Activation Device will trigger and release the back up. Often in specialist training, skydivers can practice and learn the launch times of a parachute while being connected to the airplane. This method of parachute training is referred to as "Static line jumping" and is similar to bungee jumping, but you are high in the air as opposed to on a stationary structure.

The Most Common Aircraft to Jump Out Of

Skydivers often jump from a class of plane referred to as "light sport aircraft" like the Cessna or Otter. These planes can accommodate a range of skydivers from as few as 4 to as many as 28. Nevertheless, light sport aircraft predominately are used for jumping as they are much faster than commercial aircraft, often taking a load of skydivers up every 15 to 20 minutes!

Some aircraft can fly up to 13,000 feet in 10 to 20 minutes. Unsurprisingly, the size of the engine determines how fast it gets up to this point. The quicker planes, like the King Airs with PT6A-20 engines, are regarded as the fastest in the world in their ascent.

Not only do these particular planes ascend swiftly, they can hold up to 15 people. {The King Airs, however, are only the second most popular aircraft used for diving.} The most prominent double and single engine planes for skydivers are the Havilland Canada DHC-6-Twin Otter, and the Pacific Aerospace PAC P-750 XSTOL, respectively. Whether piston or turbine powered, normally used planes for skydiving have a tendency to have wide, large doors. Turbine and piston-powered planes are separated by a key difference: turbine planes are lightweight and use their fuel more efficiently. While they provide a similar horsepower as a traditional piston engine, crafts with turbine engines are typically more expensive.
